JUPITER'S BONES

Author(s):

LAPD Lt. Peter Decker is called to check out a suspicious death at a local religious cult, the Order of the Rings of God. Father Jupiter, the leader of the group, was found dead in his bed early that morning. From the scene, Peter cant tell if its a suicide or murder. Years ago, renowned physicist Emil Euler Ganz suddenly dropped out of sight, only to resurface as Father Jupiter.

Whether its murder or suicide, something is very strange at the Order. There are about 235 people, including children, living within the compound, and Peter is afraid it could develop into a Heavens Gate scenario.

When two women from the cult turn up missing, the Order accuses a local de-programmer of kidnapping them. Where are the missing women and are they connected to Jupiters death?

In JUPITERS BONES, a Top Pick in hardcover, Ms. Kellerman perfectly balances the mystery plot and the continuing growth and development of her beloved characters. (Jul., 448 pp., $7.50—Hardcover published August 1999)
