This compelling novel, set in contemporary Ireland, centers on the Miller family -- Rose and Hugh, and their three grown daughters, Stella, Tara and Holly. Framed by Rose and Hugh's ruby wedding anniversary, the novel travels back and forth in time and place, revealing the lives, loves, hopes and disappointments of these three very different women. In time they discover strengths, similarities and bonds they did not know they possessed.

Kelly has written a beautiful story and a marvelous book. Stella, Tara and Holly, as well as the supporting characters, are beautifully developed. Kelly takes her time and lets their stories and personalities unfold slowly and naturally. This is that rare find: a totally engrossing story that the reader wants to savor yet cannot put down.
