Once again Bretton produces a wonderful, heartwarming story full of strong emotion, humor, charming
pets, delightful characters and a
lovely romance. There's also a poignant secondary romance.
The way Bretton brings all this to
life and pulls it all together for a
satisfactory conclusion are what make
her a wonderful storyteller.

Hayley is content with her life, her bakery and her teenage daughter. But she's got a surprise coming: She's the daughter of aging rocker Tommy Stiles. Stiles has more money than he knows what to do with, and being a truly nice person, he wants to see that all of his children are taken care of.

Enter Stiles' lawyer, Finn Rafferty, who's in town to check Hayley out and turn her world upside down. If that's not enough, the mother Hayley loves, but has never been close to, is about to arrive with a surprise of her own. (Jove, Mar., 320 pp., $7.99)
