Wildland firefighter Lily Peterson is permanently injured in a fall and finds herself starting over, working as a trek guide. She decides that her life still needs risk, but this time it could be emotional. Can she learn to trust her heart? A four-day camping trek in the Sierras brings out a hot city girl; a young and naïve hunk; a spoiled rich girl and her frustrated husband; and Jared Skye, a computer geek. Attraction is immediate between Lily and Jared, but Lily worries that commitment will feel like dependency. While the disasters that result from this group of non-outdoor types are somewhat predictable, the details are funny and the emotions touching. Just Try Me ... (3), by Jill Shalvis, is a fast, funny read.
