KANSAS CITY COWBOY (4) by Julie Miller: Dr. Kate Kilpatrick is Kansas City’s best profiler and police psychologist. A beauty with a painful past and iron control, she is being stalked by the Rose Red Rapist and helping out-of-town Sheriff Boone Harrison. When his baby sister becomes the rapist’s latest victim, he’s out for justice — his way — and he doesn’t care that the KCPD has sent Kate to keep him in line. When the rapist focuses his anger on Kate, Boone is determined to keep Kate out of the line of fire whether she likes it or not. Miller tosses in suspects like balls in a bingo hopper, and cranks and fires with precision and an eye for detail.
