When playboy lawyer Craig Thibodeaux rejects her granddaughter, a voodoo priestess places a curse on him. He'll be a frog by day and a man by night until the next full moon. In that time he must find a woman who will love him—warts and all—or end up as a frog permanently.

Enter professor and research scientist Elaine Smith, who is concentrating on finding the source of pollution problems in the Louisiana bayou. Craig ends up as her guide and he's the hottest hunk she has ever seen. Things heat up between them when Elaine's investigations take a dangerous turn. With her life in danger, she is determined to solve the pollution mystery—and Craig is equally determined to keep her safe.

This is an imaginative romance with a nice fairy-tale quality. The main characters are likeable, and their reasons for fighting their developing attraction keeps the story moving. But the hero comes across as rather incompetent when their lives are threatened. Still, this is a fun story with a good element of mystery. (Mar., 320 pp., $5.99)
