Sharpe delves beneath the surface of a small-town knitting group. The characters and their relationships are interesting, but the many members of the knitting group are difficult to keep straight and the beginning chapters move slowly. The flashbacks to ancestors on Shetland Island aren’t immediately relevant to the story, slowing the pace even more.

Megan Morgan’s life has fallen short of her dreams, but she takes pride in being a good mother and neighbor. Many of the women in her knitting group have known each other since childhood. Megan is a bit of an outsider, having moved to town during high school. Her life changes dramatically when a stranger from New York arrives. Megan soon learns that she has been living a lie.
