Though this novel’s narrator slips into too vernacular a style and it’s hard to care about the characters, it’s impossible not to enjoy it. The borrowed Hamlet plot works on both obvious and subtle levels and is good for a chuckle for anyone with even a passing knowledge of the play (and really, who doesn’t have that?). It’s a fun read, perfect for the beach.

A bizarre workplace accident leaves showgirl Sherri with a minor head trauma and, possibly, with the ability to grant others what they desire most with a single touch. Sherri, who’s trying to solve the mystery of her father’s death with the help of cute cop Marion is on a roll … is it coincidence, or is Sherri the latest incarnation of Lady Luck?
