Wonderful warmth fills the pages of this tender, and in parts, tragic story. Nault touches on a range of human emotions as expressed through sincere, sympathetic, well-developed characters. Using beautiful language and poignant storytelling she tells the story of an unlikely friendship and what it means to go back home and reconcile with the past. Her story delves deep into the heart and reveals all that can reside within.

After moving away to Hollywood 50 years ago, 74-year-old Victoria Rose returns to Massachusetts’ Nagog Lake, where she spent an idyllic childhood and happy summers with a close-knit group of friends. Twenty-eight-year-old travel writer Heather Bregman buys a house on Nagog Lake, after separating from her controlling fiancé. They discover a connection and support as they each try to find their place within the community. (Gallery, May, 400 pp., $15.00)
