Mills returns with this second installment of the Texas Legacy Trilogy. The pace slowly intensifies as new and old characters come together to solve an intriguing mystery. Add a little romance between two unlikely people and you are in for a good ride. Mills does a great job of holding the reader's attention as she builds tension and suspense. This award-winning novelist delivers on her promise for adventure in this great western drama.

Jenny Martin travels to Kahlerville and finds that her illegitimate niece has been adopted by the handsome town doctor, Grant Andrews. Sparks fly as she reveals her intention to seek custody and investigate her sister's death. She comes face-to-face with Aubrey Turner, who claims to be her sister's
jilted fiance. 

But when a downward spiral of events rocks the community, Jenny and Grant discover that Aubrey is not who he claims to be. Concerned for her safety, Jenny flees, with only her newfound faith in God to sustain her. (BARBOUR, Sep., 320 pp., $12.99)
