LASSOING THE DEPUTY (3) by Marie Ferrarella: Cash Taylor is coming home to Forever, Texas, for his grandfather’s wedding, not to rekindle things with the woman he left behind. Alma Rodriguez is convinced she is over Cash, until she sees him again and realizes there is something more lurking behind his eyes than happiness for his grandfather. Cash has been rethinking his career as a defense attorney since a shattering tragedy, and Alma encourages him to overcome his past as she opens her heart to him again. Alma and Cash’s slow journey back to each other will make readers sigh, but they will also find Cash’s move from depression to healing a trifle unbelievable. Ferrarella’s latest offering is entertaining, but it lacks the heartfelt family ties that are usually a huge part of her novels.
