Judy Christenberry's deft characterizations make THE LAST CRAWFORD BACHELOR (4) a book to savor. Michael and Dani are assistants to a smarmy district attorney who pays Dani unwelcome attention. Michael convinces her to fake a relationship to keep the boss at bay. Dani knows she shouldn't have to pretend to date someone to save her job, but she's practical enough to recognize a neat solution to a sticky problem. Dani's an amazing heroine, a strong, quiet loner who simply wants a chance to do work she loves. Neither Michael nor Dani trusts easily, so watching these two slowly open up to each other is a rare treat.
