THE LAST GOODBYE
THE LAST GOODBYE (4) by Sarah Mayberry: Housesitter Ally Bishop tracks down her neighbor Bob’s son, Tyler, to tell him that his father is dying of cancer. Tyler Adamson heads home with the intention of telling his father just how much he hates him because of his abusive childhood. But when Tyler sees his father in pain and alone, he stays to help in spite of his feelings. Ally, who at first feels sorry for Bob, soon realizes just how bad Tyler’s childhood was. She tries to make his stay with Bob as easy as possible. Well-developed characters and excellent dialogue make this a book worth reading. Ally’s fear of attachment and Tyler’s determination to create a home are both nicely depicted.
