Reporter Rozalie Matthews is investigating a murder when she gets caught in the crossfire of two men who match eyewitness accounts of the killer. To make matters worse, the survivor takes her hostage.

Eli McCain has been falsely accused of murder. He's just been shot by a look-alike and needs someone to take out the bullet. Rozalie is the ideal candidate. Though she should be shaking in her boots at being taken captive by an outlaw, Rozalie is far more attracted to Eli than she is to her fiancé.

Always outspoken, a champion of the downtrodden, and a woman who loves adventure, Rozalie decides to help Eli prove his innocence. She disguises him as a Spanish aristocrat and brings him straight into town, where they can ferret out the real killer.

Like all of Finch's westerns, The Last Honest Outlaw is a rollicking romp filled with fast-paced chases, sexy love scenes and plenty of action and adventure. This fun, nonstop novel has delightful characters, a carefully drawn setting and just enough mystery to keep everything moving at a fast clip. SENSUAL (Dec., 304 pp., $5.50)
