A LAWMAN FOR CHRISTMAS (3) by Marie Ferrarella: Called to the E.R. when her mother has a car accident, teacher Kelsey Marlowe isn't sure which is more disturbing -- discovering what caused the wreck, or meeting cop Morgan Donnelly! A loner since his wife and child were killed, Morgan isn't ready for the Marlowes in general, and Kelsey in particular, but he's drawn to her all the same. Then Kelsey's offered a job in another city, and Morgan's too afraid to ask her to stay -- which Kelsey thinks means he doesn't care. A credible conflict and a straightforward plot make for a reasonably enjoyable read. But it's hard to warm up to Morgan, despite the explanation for his gruffness.
