LEGACY OF LOVE
If you are familiar with New Orleans and Southern folklore, you know that some things are beyond our imagination. This book blends the idea of curses and legacies with real life in a way that is understandable and almost believable. At some parts, however, the story veers away from the main characters and ventures into miscellaneous information that doesn’t aid the storytelling.
Zoe Beaumont has been given the task of bringing true love back into her family. The Beaumont women tend to fail at love but their fate can be turned around if Zoe opens her heart to her destiny. She has been plagued with dreams of a shadow of a man almost nightly and then meets him on the street. Jackson Treme, having been plagued with similar dreams, feels an instant connection to Zoe. Both are eager to see how their future will match up with their pasts. (KIMANI/ARABESQUE, Oct., 304 pp., $6.99)
