While this reviewer wasn’t wowed by this debut because of somewhat generic writing and plot, there are some interesting concepts that will be welcome in the growing dystopian genre. Readers shouldn’t expect a deep, revolutionizing book, but it’s a fun quick read that’s really hard to put down.

The United States is split in two, East and West, in a deadly civil war during a time of plague where only the wealthy can receive vaccinations. June is a privileged prodigy, vying to avenge her brother’s murder. Day, the republic’s most wanted criminal, is the prime suspect.
