The past returns and changes the present in Life Happens (4), by Sandra Steffen. Mya Donahue is engaged to a doctor, a nice man who never loses his temper. Then a knock on her door brings the daughter she gave up for adoption when she was 17. Elle tells her that she had a happy childhood until her adopted mother died and she found herself with a stepmother she hates. Elle has a 10-month-old daughter, Kaylie, and a secret. Mya is determined not to lose her daughter again and she goes to Dean Laker, Elle's biological father, for help. Filled with passion and the pain of old secrets and decisions, this is a heartwarming story. The conclusion comes together somewhat quickly and conveniently, but it's emotionally satisfying.
