It is just Zoe's luck that Mr. Perfect Client probably murdered his wife. Zoe Luce is an interior designer in Whispering Springs, Arizona, and while touring prospective client Davis Mason's house, she gets very disturbing vibes from the walls of the empty bedroom. According to Davis, his wife moved out, taking the bed with her. Zoe's psychic sense tells her something awful happened in that room.

The resolution of the murder of his brother cost P.I. Ethan Truax his marriage and his successful business, but it did bring justice. Starting over in Whispering Springs, Ethan takes on Zoe as his first client. Ethan quickly realizes that Zoe is not being up front about her reasons for asking about Mrs. Mason.

Zoe is not anxious to bring attention to herself. Despite locking horns with Ethan, Zoe senses that he is extremely capable and trustworthy. His skills will be put to the test when Zoe's past catches up with her.

LIGHT IN SHADOW is Krentz's most electrifying and suspenseful book to date. As always, the humor, terrific characterizations and romantic tension flow through the story. This book also has a harder edge, making it quite a thrilling read. (Jan., 384 pp., $24.95)
