Trey Walker is not the marrying kind. He remembers very clearly the day his father warned him about the Walker men's curse, and he's not about to let Maddie Brooks be the next woman whose heart he breaks. Maddie has nowhere else to turn when her veterinary office and apartment burn to the ground, so she sets up shop in Trey's barn. Seeing each other every day brings this pair closer, but still, Trey is stubborn. It's not until he thinks he's lost Maddie forever that he realizes what his father really meant all those years ago. Like Lightning (4) by Charlene Sands shows what can happen when the one you're trying to resist ends up sleeping right down the hall. It's filled with enough humor and fast-paced dialogue to keep readers turning the pages.
