LITTLE COWGIRL ON HIS DOORSTEP (4) by Donna Alward: Cadence Creek, Canada, is the last place baker Avery Spencer thought she’d visit. But after her sister’s sudden death, Avery is appointed guardian to 4-month-old Nell, and she’s determined to make her niece known to her daddy. Rugged dairy farmer and ex-military man Callum Shepard remembers his one-night stand with Avery’s sister at a mutual friend’s wedding one year ago, but he refuses to believe the baby is his. When an unexpected event causes Avery and Nell to stay at the ranch longer than Avery planned, she begins to see the gentler side of Callum’s tough exterior. Alward portrays a sister’s love perfectly. It’s touchingly apparent that Avery’s late sister will live on through Nell in this lovely, well-written story.
