A LITTLE TEXAS (4) by Liz Talley: After her business partner uses their funds for personal items, Kate Newman needs to pay off the IRS. She attempts to blackmail her father, Justus Mitchell, who’s never acknowledged her as his, to get the money. Justus agrees, if she’ll spend two weeks with him, and sends his former assistant, Rick Mendez, to pick her up. Kate’s attracted to Rick, who is opening a center to rehabilitate gang members. But determined to make up for his own past, Rick refuses to be distracted by Kate. Talley crafts an entertaining story with a novel plot. Her characters are likable and vibrant.
