THE LONESOME RANCHER
THE LONESOME RANCHER (3) by Patricia Thayer: Nurse Jade Hamilton’s search for her birth father, a Texas senator, brings her to Kerry Springs, where she is hired to care for Senator Merrick’s ailing wife. Rancher Sloan Merrick, the senator’s stepson, regards Jade with suspicion. Despite the tension, Jade and Sloan soon fall for each other, but Jade’s secret threatens to affect both of their lives. The main characters are compelling, but characterizing Jade’s deceased adoptive mother as needy, jealous and secretive casts a negative light on adoption and may not sit right with some readers.
