THE LONESOME YOUNG
Connors, aka bestselling paranormal author Alyssa Day, makes a splash with this YA offering. The hero Mickey in particular is swoon-worthy; he’s a potential bad boy — misunderstood with a heart of gold. What’s not to love?! The feuding families and meth lab backdrop add gravitas to the angsty teen love story. Readers will be sad to bid Victoria and Mickey farewell in such an abrupt fashion, but what a ride!
Victoria Whitfield’s been yanked from her private school and forced to return to the family homestead in Whitfield Country. Her relationship with Mickey Rhodale starts off with a bang when he saves her from a meth lab explosion. She’s instantly drawn to the blue-eyed hottie, but their families have hated each other for generations and will do anything to keep them apart. Add in Victoria’s alcoholic sister, Mickey’s drug-dealing half-siblings, shady business dealings, race horses and more, and these star-crossed lovers have a rocky road ahead of them. Especially considering that whenever they get together, all hell breaks loose. (RAZORBILL, Apr., 336 pp., $17.99, HC, ISBN: 9781595147097, 15 & Up)
