LONG, HOT TEXAS SUMMER (4) by Cathy Gillen Thacker: When master carpenter A.B. Johnson shows up at Lost Pine Ranch to work on the bunkhouse, Justin McCabe finds not the man he expected but Amanda, a beautiful and bright woman. He is also surprised when he’s asked to take in a teen who needs to do community service, just the type Lost Pine Ranch is being renovated for. Determined to prove that he can run this ranch, Justin ends up working closely with Amanda, something to which he soon finds himself looking forward. This McCabe Homecoming story showcases a bit of a gender role reversal for the main characters, one handled with dexterity. They play well off each other, and the secondary characters add depth to the story.
