Banks gives her book about reunited lovers an interesting twist. One is a trained assassin bent on getting out of the game and the other a CIA agent who has spent the last three years searching for her. When they meet again, it is with a bang. While the characters are certainly intriguing, the plot is a little unbelievable and detracts from the overall enjoyment of the story.

CIA operative Manuel Ramirez has spent the last three years using every resource at his disposal to track down the love of his life, Jules Treharn. Then she suddenly appears in a hospital in Colorado, having survived the bombing that killed her parents. Jules had been kidnapped and trained as an assassin, and agrees to help Manuel take down the organization behind it all. As they investigate, each new lead results in more questions. As the two work together, old feelings resurface and they find themselves fighting for more than just Jules’ freedom. (SAMHAIN, Aug., 272 pp., $15.00)
