The small-town setting and community vibe of the weaving studio enhance the mystery by providing a central location to introduce key players. Della is a smart and likable sleuth who has a penchant for high heels and nasty spills. Her sleuthing skills and her relationship with Matthew provide plenty of drama to keep readers hooked. Weaving projects included!

After clearing her name of embezzlement charges, Della Wright flees the city and lands in Briar Hollow, N.C., where she opens a weaving studio in her friend Matthew’s house. She is pleasantly surprised to have volunteers show up for her first charity event at Dream Weavers. David Swanson joins the group after being ordered to perform community service for assaulting a co-worker, Jeremy Fox. Jeremy slept with David’s wife and bilked several investors out of money with a bad real estate deal. Later, when Della and David find Jeremy dead, David becomes the prime suspect. Della tramples on crime scenes and visits the local watering hole to uncover the real killer. Can she find the truth before everything unravels? (OBSIDIAN, Jun., 336 pp., $7.99)
