Griffin's love story is a pleasant book, but not intriguing when it comes to Alicia's overwhelming desire to be with Jack. Thanks to a story twist that's developed right from the start, the reader will no doubt push through this story to reach the answers that remain hidden for much of the tale.

Successful businessman Jack Devlin's relocation to New York is made that much smoother by meeting the woman of his dreams. Alicia Timberlake has some of the same friends as Jack, and that connection brings them together. Alicia is disturbed by her reaction to Jack, and meeting him pushes her to recover a flood of memories that she's been repressing since childhood. Theirs is a compulsive jolt of attraction that cannot be denied. (KIMANI/ARABESQUE, May, 320 pp., $6.99)
