Image of Love Is a Battlefield (A Walk in the Park, Book 1)

The characters are well written and reading about life as a park ranger is fresh and interesting. However, too many subplots muddy the story, causing the romantic angle to be lost and the happily ever after to feel tacked on. Still, it's an enjoyable read worth checking out.

After being left at the altar, Kristy O'Neal tries to resume her old life by returning to her job at Shiloh National Military Park. The problem is that Ace Kennedy has taken the position. Ace transferred to Shiloh after his best friend's death, a death he feels responsible for. When he meets Kristy, the attraction is immediate. Ace is determined to move past her animosity to examine their feelings. But she can't seem to move beyond her distrust to give him her heart. (BARBOUR, Oct., 288 pp., $10.97)
