Book Review

by Melanie Dobson

Genre: Inspirational, Historical Romance

RT Rating

Dobson draws from a simpler time in a communal setting and paints a stunning love story. The reader will become part of the main character's survival story -- one where poverty will not be a victor and crime will not triumph.

Desperate for work, Jacob Hirsch heads west with his 4-year-old daughter, Cassie. When illness strands the pair in Homestead, Iowa, the local villagers welcome them into their peaceful society. Liesel nurses Cassie back to health, and the Homestead elders offer Jacob work. But Jacob's growing interest in Liesel complicates his position. He must choose between staying in a place that feels like home and possibly giving up the woman he loves, or asking Liesel to leave her home to face the outside world with Jacob and Cassie at her side.
