Wilde kicks off her new series set in Cupid, Texas, where desert and mountains meet and love is always in the air, with a delightful story. The characters who live in Wilde’s charming town are an interesting bunch, and this couple in particular is a pleasure to meet. It’s pure fun to watch their disbelief in love at first sight change to acceptance.

As the oldest great granddaughter of Millie Greenwood, Natalie McCleary plays Cupid — along with other women from town — while running her bed and breakfast, Cupid’s Rest, in Cupid, Texas. It would be hard for anyone, but especially for 29-year-old Natalie, who has never been in love. However, that is about to change. Dade Vega is in town looking for his foster brother who is missing and just happened to be staying at Cupid’s Rest. Neither Natalie nor Dade believe in love at first sight — until they meet. And even then, it’s not until Dade is honest with Natalie as well as himself that they become believers. (AVON, Jun., 384 pp., $7.99)
