Claudia Wallace has led a full life but theres sorrow inside her: a secret she's been keeping for years that now might be revealed. Her daughter Tara, the light of her life, has just announced she is travelling to the United States with her boyfriend, and if all goes as planned she will be staying there as his wife. How can Claudia tell her the truth of her conception, and how she came to be without losing her love.

She turns to the only source of help she can think of. The only other person who knows the truth, her ex-husband Garth. The discovery of his betrayal years before had been more than their marriage could stand, but he is the only one who can help her get through this. The two must tell their daughter the truth regardless of the costs.

Penny Jordan makes masterful use of flashbacks in this emotional read. Her secondary stories are interesting, though dark and somewhat disturbing, but her main couple is richly developed and intriguing. (Sep., 480 pp. $5.99)
