LOVE ON THE RANGE (4.5) by Jessica Nelson: With influenza running rampant in Boston, Gracelyn Riley is sent by her parents to Oregon to stay with her uncle. While there, she searches for Striker, a special agent for the government. She will win a reporter position with the Women’s Liberator if she can interview him. Gracie soon gets to know Trevor Cruz, her uncle’s friend, who claims to not believe in God, tough Gracie believes he has only lost his way. As the influenza epidemic spreads and the search for a white slaver by Trevor and Gracie’s uncle intensifies, so does her attraction to Trevor. Nelson takes an exciting look at a time of sorrow, but also hope, in America, with a heroine struggling to respect her upbringing while embracing her independence.
