Brody's follow-up to The Fidelity Files is another fast-moving, titillating read centered around our favorite "fidelity inspector." This time Jessica has a staff, which broadens the voyeuristic fun of watching them catch cheating men and women in the act. Heightening the drama is Jessica's engagement to the love of her life, Jamie. At its core, this novel has great sensitivity, humor and heart.

Now that Jessica's friends know her secret, she no longer has to hide the fact that she's a professional fidelity inspector, a woman hired by suspecting men and women to prove that their significant others are being unfaithful. With business booming, she opens the Hawthorne Agency and oversees a staff of fidelity inspectors, allowing her to take a step back from the day-to-day dirty work. It's perfect timing too, since her boyfriend Jamie has just proposed.

Separating her personal life from her business proves challenging since Jessica is constantly surrounded by her clients' heartbreak. Making matters worse, even her own father is on his third marriage. What's a fidelity inspector to do? (ST. MARTIN'S GRIFFIN, Nov., 320 pp., $14.99)
