Bestselling author Michaela Sanders' latest project has her traveling to Seattle to profile the infamous Ramsey family. Surprisingly, she meets opposition from devastatingly handsome Quest Ramsey. Family secrets compel him to decline Michaela's offer of writing a family biography, but he requests that she stay in Seattle so that they can get to know each other better. Michaela is determined to uncover the Ramseys' past, but will her budding relationship survive the truth?

A sugary-sweet story makes for a fanciful tale that overshadows a fairly good mystery. Washington delays revealing necessary information about Michaela's and Quest's pasts that would have enriched the story. Additionally, she wastes precious space on unnecessary information.

Despite these factors, and a rather abrupt ending, there are some good things about this novel. Michaela and Quest are colorful, the story moves along quickly and Washington provides vivid setting details. (Jan., 255 pp., $5.99)
