Book Review

THE LUCKY DOG MATCHMAKING SERVICE
by Beth Kendrick

Genre: Mainstream, General Mainstream Fiction

RT Rating

If the title does not grab your attention, Kendrick’s writing will. Her latest is an engaging, thoroughly enjoyable tale of finding soul mates of the four-legged and two-legged varieties. All of the characters are perfectly formed, including the secondary characters and the dogs. When you put this book down, you will have a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.

Lara Madigan has a special gift for matching people with the perfect dog. When her boyfriend ends their relationship, Lara moves in with her obsessive mother, Justine, who owns a network of beauty salons and spas and expects everything in her life to be perfect all the time — including her daughter and the dogs. Justine’s uber-rich neighbors hear about Lara and want to hire her to help with their dogs. Will Lara survive her mother’s “helpful” ideas, the neighbors’ outlandish demands and still manage to find her human soul mate? (NAL, May, 336 pp., $15.00)
