MAGIC IN THE SHADOWS
by Devon Monk

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

RT Rating

Once again readers join Hound Allison Beckstrom on her first-person journey into treacherous magical territory that's laced with plenty of magical mayhem. The complex world and interpersonal dynamics make this story and series suspenseful and grimly compelling. Excellent!

Having buried her father for the second time, Allie hopes he's finally laid to rest. That turns out to be a futile hope as she soon realizes he has somehow tapped into her psyche. Allie's growing power has brought her to the attention of the magical authority.

Zayvion Jones may be Allie's magical soul complement, as well as the man she has fallen for. But the magical holes in her memory have their relationship starting anew. A necromorph is stalking her father's essence and realizes that he's lodged in Allie. Can Allie survive long enough to begin to understand her powers? (ROC, Nov., 368 pp., $7.99)
