The countdown clock is growing perilously close to the final prophecy as Andersen puts the pressure on her characters. In the previous book, clever Andersen shook up the entire Nightkeeper power structure, changes which are still reverberating throughout her universe. Over the course of this series, her storytelling talent has been honed to a fine art.

As a coyote mage, Sven is pretty much a loner. His one constant companion is his coyote familiar Mac. As a teenager, Cara Liu’s father force-bound her to Sven as his winikin. Cara broke that bond, but her love for Sven remains. With the end times approaching, Cara has returned to the winikin as their leader. However the traditional relationships between winikin and nightkeepers are fraying, leading to anger and uncertainty. Danger both internal and external threatens them all; can Cara and Sven save the alliance? (SIGNET ECLIPSE, Apr., 448 pp., $7.99)
