by Devon Monk

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

RT Rating

Over the course of this series, heroine Allie Beckstrom has made difficult choices; the most recent forcing her to live with the emotionally devastating fallout from killing a person. Monk cuts her characters no slack as they continue in crisis mode in this lightning-paced novel. War is coming and Monk does an outstanding job ratcheting up the tension and danger, keeping both characters and readers on a knife’s edge.

In order to try and stop the further spread of a poison that affects magic, hound Allie Beckstrom had to shoot the head of Portland’s Authority, Bartholomew Wray. Now considered outlaws, Allie, Zay, Shamus and the gang are struggling to find a way to clean the magic, stop the epidemic and stay ahead of the Authority and police. They also have to worry about the Veiled possessing and killing people. Time is running out to find a cure. (ROC, Apr., 368 pp., $7.99)
