Nicole Edwards is a second grade school teacher struggling with not having the one thing her students have…parents. Being left as a child and having grown up as a ward of the state still plagues her as an adult. Military man Ramon Xavier and Nicole meet as a result of matchmaking friends. However, Nicole is not interested in Ramon and because of events from her past, she spurns his every attempt at romantic overtures. He overcomes Nicole's reluctance with his friendship, and as they build a relationship, which includes his young son, she overcomes her feelings of inferiority.

MAGNOLIA SUNSET is a wonderful love story, as Nicole and Ramon seem to peel away layers and layers of love, hurt and betrayal to become one unified couple. (Jun., 370 pp., $8.95)
