Genre: Historical Romance, America
Everyone has a secret in this delightful tale from the Old West. The concept of the mail-order groom, rather than bride, is an entertaining twist on a standard plot. There’s plenty of gun-slinging, blood shed and lovemaking going on from start to finish, which will keep readers turning pages until the very end.
Savannah Reed works as a telegraph operator in the small town of Morrow Creek, where she hopes to outrun her scandalous past. She strikes up a relationship with another telegraph operator and he decides to come to Morrow Creek and marry her.
Detective Adam Corwin has been tracking Roy Bedell across the country. Roy finds innocent women of means, inserts himself into their lives, then swindles and sometimes kills them. Adam has tracked Roy and his gang to Morrow Creek where they plan to swindle their next mark — Savannah.
In a surprise attack, Adam and Roy shoot each other. Roy is injured but gets away, and Adam is left to die. Savannah nurses him back to health, mistakenly thinking he is her mail-order groom. As Savannah and Adam fall in love, they are afraid to reveal their true identities. They get more entangled in their web of lies while the Bedell gang closes in on their next target.
