THE MAN BEHIND THE MASK
THE MAN BEHIND THE MASK (3) by Maggie Cox: Street performer Marianne Lockwood isn’t the homeless charity case Eduardo De Souza assumes her to be when he offers her a job as his live-in housekeeper. The timing is great, as Marianne wants to leave her past be-hind and regain her independence. Wounded souls, Edurado and Marianne start to heal as their connection deepens. This story had potential, but readers are overwhelmed with too much backstory, and its slow pace, which mimics the melancholy surrounding the characters in the beginning, never quite picks up as the story progresses.
