A MAN TO BELIEVE IN
A MAN TO BELIEVE IN (4) by Kathleen Pickering: Nurse Peter Chapman moves from California to Montauk, Long Island, for a fresh start. He gets in a car accident when he stops to admire his co-worker Cassie Michaels riding her bike, and is immediately smitten. Cassie is still grieving a lost love from years earlier. Just when she has finally come to terms with Peter’s feelings for her, Cassie is scared off again when she is diagnosed with cancer, remembering the damage her mother’s cancer caused her parents’ marriage. Very realistic problems and authentic character reactions make for a solid novel. Cassie’s fear of dying and her sorrow over her lost love ring true, as does Peter’s response to her illness.
