FBI agent Teague McCauley doesn't have a lot of time to think about romance, but there's something about his neighbor, Dani Madison, that catches his eye. A music student, Dani seems nice, but Teague suspects she might be a little high-maintenance -- which she is, thanks to her past. But when Teague's injured on the job, Dani's the one who looks after him until he recovers. When they finally make love, it's supposed to be a one-time thing, but Teague wants more. Gina Wilkins's The Man Next Door (3)
has a no-frills plot, a credible conflict
and a sweet romance, but nothing really sets it apart.
