THE MAN SHE ONCE KNEW (4) by Jean Brashear: Back in Oak Hollow, Ga., for her great-aunt's funeral, attorney Callie has every intention of returning to Philadelphia as soon as possible. She needs to save her career after a lapse in judgment put it in jeopardy. But Callie ends up stuck for a month when she learns she's inherited her aunt's estate --- and staying in town is one of the conditions. Determined to avoid David, someone she's hurt in the past, Callie finds that the once promising young man was recently released from prison after serving 15 years for murder. Brashear combines an interesting story with very realistic characters. Callie's and David's emotions come across as genuine, as do their situations.
