Book Review

by Kate Perry

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

RT Rating

Perry kicks off a first-person urban fantasy series, the Guardians of Destiny, by introducing readers to Gabrielle Sansouci Chin. This is a great premise with an interesting but stubborn protagonist. Keep an eye on this author and series.

The arrival of an ancient Chinese scroll tells Gabe that her father has died and that she's now the repository and guardian of a powerful earth energy called Tu ch'i. Attached to the scroll is her father's nagging ghost. The power of Tu ch'i is impressive, and unless Gabe can control it, havoc could be unleashed. The arrival of the sexy and enigmatic Rhys Llewellyn strikes Gabe as highly suspicious. He claims to want to help her, but is he really after the scroll? (FOREVER, Feb., 400 pp., $6.99)
