THE MARRIAGE GAME
by Fern Michaels

Genre: Mainstream, General Mainstream Fiction

RT Rating

The Marriage Game is side-splittingly funny, though the plot feels a little thin and slightly unrealistic even for a lighthearted read such as this. Samantha makes for a strong, central character and the romantic tension between her and Pappy Havapopulas is engaging. The ending, though neatly tying up all the loose ends, doesn't quite satisfy. Yet the comical situations that Sam finds herself in and the mix of quirky characters that surround her make this story a fun read.

Samantha Rainford, suddenly divorced, newly washed out from the FBI academy and smoldering from the after-effects of both, joins a covert vigilante organization along with her best friend, Slick, and three of her fellow ex-wives. While in training, on her own personal mission, she tracks down her ex-husband and makes him monetarily pay all of his ex-wives for the heartbreak he has caused them. Unexpectedly, she finds love again. (Pocket, Apr., 291 pp., $25.00)
