MARRIED BY JUNE (4) by Ellen Hartman: Right after political speech writer Cooper Murphy calls off his engagement to wedding planner Jorie Burke, he learns he has to take over his brother’s senate seat, and he needs Jorie’s help to be successful, since he’ll lose public sentiment if anyone finds out he dumped her. While Jorie won’t agree to a sham engagement, she will agree to getting re-engaged if she and Cooper work on their relationship. A well-written story with a novel premise, it’s Jorie’s and Cooper’s flaws that give Hartman’s novel serious intensity and depth.
