Wow. Pierce has concocted one of her most complex plots ever, as Beka’s legend reaches its finale in this trilogy ender. Beka is strong, smart and determined, and you’ll love the depth and development of the supporting characters too.

It’s been three years since Beka caught the colemongers in Port Caynn, and since then she’s learned that nothing good comes from a late-night call. But when the Lord Provost comes calling and tells her to hurry, she knows something must be terribly wrong. Grabbing Achoo and Pounce, she meets Tunstall to begin the biggest and most dangerous hunt of her life. Beka also faces mixed emotions as she copes with grief over her dead fiancé, and the guilt of knowing she no longer loved him. Luckily, even with Tunstall, Lady Sabine and a mage named Farmer Cape to help, this hunt is plenty dangerous to take her mind off of her failed relationship. When it seems as though there must be a traitor in their group Beka is torn between whom to trust — her longtime partner, the honorable lady knight or the mage she is falling in love with?
