Image of A Match Made in Texas (Deep in the Heart of Texas)

Lane’s outlandish sense of humor and unerring knack for creating delightful characters and vibrant settings are on full display in her sixth Deep in the Heart of Texas novel. She does a marvelous job blending searing heat and surprising heart in her unlikely couple’s journey to happiness, and creates a fully immersive world for them in which to grow and change. Fans of this series will love catching up with the over-the-top supporting cast of Bramble, Texas, but new readers won’t have much trouble feeling right at home in this terrific town.

Brianne Cates has had it with her overprotective brothers. Even though she’s running from scandal, she’s thrilled for the chance to escape their smothering and hide away in their Texas B&B — until she’s arrested by Dusty Hicks, the no-nonsense sheriff of Bramble. Brianne is forced to do community service, but finds herself strangely drawn to the irascible cop. Dusty’s had his heart broken by a woman like Brianne before and isn’t about to let the wild, sassy woman get under his skin, even if he can’t get her out of his mind. (FOREVER, Apr., 352 pp., $8.00)
